According to film critic Jeff Sneider, Universal and Illumination are in the process of closing a deal with Nintendo to adapt the Legend of Zelda.
With the proven success of The Super Mario Bros movie, this probably gives Nintendo an advantage in the negotiations, not to mention the spectacular success of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I guess striking while the iron is hot is a good idea.
3rd August 2023 is the date for Nintendo's next quarterly results announcement, hopefully more details about the Super Mario Bros movie will be released then.
