Nintendo is working on a Zelda live-action movie with Sony

Nintendo has announced that they are working on a The Legend of Zelda live-action movie, together with Sony.

Shigeru Miyamoto is working with Avi Arad as producers and the movie will be directed by Wes Ball (Maze Runner trilogy and the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes).

The movie will be co-financed by Nintendo and Sony. There is no date announced nor actors for the projects so this is probably very early stage.

According to Box Office Mojo, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has grossed about 1.362 billion worldwide, so it is not surprising Nintendo is taking this step. It is also in line with their stated intention to develop their IP via other media outside of games.
