Nintendo's Super Mario Bros movie to cross 1 billion box office

The Super Mario Bros movie continues to hit new records. It is crossing 1 billion this weekend (490 million North America and 532 million international)

This makes it the 5th movie during pandemic times to reach 1 billion at the box office. The rest are Spider-Man: No Way Home, Top Gun: Maverick, Jurassic World Dominion and Avatar: The Way of Water.

It is also projected to become the 3rd animated film to gross over $500 million in the US. The other movies are The Incredibles 2 and the Lion King remake

It just needs another $130 million more to surpass Minions movie to become Illumination’s highest grossing film ever.
