Amazon just released the trailer for its Fallout series, a show based on the popular Fallout games, from Bethesda (acquired by Microsoft).
For those unfamiliar, Fallout is a series of games based on a post-apocalyptic world set in the United States with zombies, mutants and all sorts of dark humour. The latest game, Fallout 4, grossed about 750 million in its first day.
The obvious comparison here is against The Last of Us, a massively successful TV series based on the game of the same name which is also set in a post-apocalyptic world.
It will be interesting to observe how video games IP are monetised or converted into other medium, as more and more IP owners go down this road.
