........ and it's an alarm clock
Sorry I can't help myself.
As many Nintendo watchers know, the Switch is one of their best selling devices, at 143.42 million units sold. It is beaten only by the Nintendo DS at 154.02 million units.
Launched in 3 March 2017, it is 7 years old and showing its age. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has announced that the successor to the Switch will be released after March 2025, with a reveal before then.
Speculation in the Nintendo fandom is rife and it is expected that they will reveal the new device within 2024. Guessing the reveal date is a bit of a cottage industry now.
Lo and behold, Nintendo did reveal their next device, but instead of the Switch successor, it was an alarm clock. Specifically, the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo.
This is obviously not what fans were looking forward to but it is a fun little device. The retail price is 99 USD and you can choose themes from Nintendo games including Zelda, Mario, Splatoon.
The device has motion sensors which will add sounds from the game to the alarm, as you struggle to wake up.
The Verge has a nice little write up on the device.
Meanwhile, the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit will continue to be a place for fans to vent frustrations.
We aren't clowning, they are
